For community college students

Math help that fits around your life

Work, family, a full class schedule: there isn't always time to sit down for an hour of math. Lola is a math tutor you can use on the side, on your phone on a break, late at night or between shifts. She works with you outside class, for homework, practice and review, meets you at your level and moves at your pace.

Lola Math on a phone: a Community College Developmental Math practice question, solve 4 times the quantity x plus 1 equals negative 6x minus 6, with Lola's hint to clear parentheses or fractions first

Lola on the side, whenever you have a few minutes

Your professor teaches the course. Lola is there for the hours in between, when you're working through homework or reviewing on your own and there's nobody to ask.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

On your phone

Lola runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop. There's nothing to install: log in and pick up your practice.

โฑ๏ธ

Short sessions

A few questions on a lunch break still count. Your study plan suggests sessions of about 20 minutes, and you can stop whenever you need to.

๐Ÿ”–

Pick up where you left off

Your progress by unit, your study plan and your recent practice are saved to your account, so the next session starts where the last one ended.

Lola adapts to you

Starts where you are, not where the syllabus says you should be

  • Finds your actual gaps: every question is tagged by topic, so your mastery by unit shows exactly what you've got and what still needs work.
  • Meets you at your level: start with fractions and signed numbers if they're rusty, or go straight to factoring if that's what's due.
  • Moves at your pace: practice by unit isn't timed. Take a new question when you're ready, not before.
  • Explains it as many ways as you need: a built-in hint, Lola's own hint on your work, or watch Lola solve a similar problem step by step and then try one with new numbers. Short videos and strategy lessons are there too.
  • Voice and step-by-step hints: ask out loud and listen to Lola's reply when your professor has voice switched on, or snap a photo or sketch your work.

Building toward your goal

The foundation for your math requirement, and for what comes after

Many degree and transfer pathways start with a required math course. Lola's Community College course works on the algebra that college algebra, statistics and precalculus are built on, and on the study habits that make a math course easier to get through.

  • 11 units: fractions and signed numbers, linear equations and word problems, graphing lines and systems, exponents, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions and radicals, functions, and quantitative reasoning and statistics.
  • Study habits that stick: a weekly study plan to your final exam, showing your work, checking every answer with a math engine (SymPy) and short confidence check-ins.
  • Practice tests: elementary algebra practice tests with original questions, so the format isn't a surprise.

Lola is a practice tool. It doesn't award credit, and it can't promise a grade, a placement result or a transfer: your professor and your college decide those.
